Anyway for the other places on another weekend;
about half hour North of Market Harboro,
hall converted to offer a small shop, cafe and gardens on side of a hill with views out across countryside.
Rutland Water is a popular place nearby though too far to walk I thought,
beside Wing village and at least one pub alongside that offers food as well
has any number of chickens roaming the site (so tenter's need to guard their food)
Anyway, my 3p worth open to suggestions

Just checked out Wing Hall on UK Campsite.co.uk & it makes for very good reading as far as i'm concerned for a campsite & two small lakes to fish, i won't mention this at home as last time we went away i spent too long fishing!
125 miles for Us, the old bus & unit should cope with that but will avoid the M1 & take a slower route more suited to our style of relaxing, stress free driving.
But as this is the first suggestion let's see what other Gems people come up with?
p.s. If you want a laugh, check out the Trip Advisor review on Wing Hall.

Oh no, (well perhaps later)
What we need is a map so we can fairly work out a central point
but for this I need to ask all of you to fill in that detail (roughly) in your user control panel
I'm game to go anywhere as long as its not the highlands or something

I've been to wing, its local for us
Wasn't that impressed, thought it was expensive (£20 to park on a bit of grass for a few hours - watch out NCP)
Or maybe I'm just stingy which is why I wildcamp alot or find proper farm sites
There is another site near rutland water which is far more rural but with less facilities
Or if you want the centre of the country , Victoria Farm which has a (dreaded word coming up) 'rally' field and is near where the Fosse Way and Watling Street ✖

We shall have to introduce a sin-bin for those comparing us the CC and 'Rallying'
I don't mind where we go, my default setting is coastal personally but I'm willing to put that aside for now.

The area is fine for me, and fairly central for most folks I'd guess. A pub within walking distance would be a bonus.

I think as long as it has some basic facilities and almost certainly EHU on hand we can slum it anywhere, I feel along with anywhere advertising a rally-field or clubhouse or entertainment we might find somewhere acceptable to all,
Evidently Rubberrat has come to expect CC standard issue facilities these days
straight nicely lined up vans, complimentary Daily wail, no campers with a 'Z' in their surname, George flag compulsory
