Don't just rely on spreader plates on the rear end of your buck.
My seams started to split on my Navara after only 3 outings & 3,000 miles.
I ended up getting angle iron brackets made up & welded on to the chassis.

I liked that solution best I think, also I've been lucky I think, in five years ownership (limited off piste driving) and three pickups I've not had any problem
Can I ask do any of us here subscribe to the loading camper-on-mat (or other form of cushioning material)
mine was sold to me together with a large rubber mat thing covered whole tub floor, I tried it a few times and then without and seemed to make little odds either way
now it just loads onto load liners and seems happy with that

My loadliner hinders the camper, so I have to take it out, and have made a thick marine ply base with an upstand to stop the camper rubbing on the front edge of the buck and taking the paint off the ribs ion the original buck floor.
The floor piece is covered with some of that granular flooring they use in wet rooms etc to give it a bit of grip.
Anything to reduce any kind of initial movement that could make the turnbuckles go slack it a good thing to me.
If my next truck is wide enough to leave the load liner in, then i'll use a sheet of conveyor belt matting for a bit of grip.

I've got a Bedrug that stays on the truck permanently. I don't know if its a good or bad thing but it would be too much of a hassle to take it out every time I mounted. Its bad enough taking my Truckman top off every time.

I see 'Lifting Gear Supplies' in Anstey lane.
Do you have a good marina and chandlery business near you? I'm sure I used to use one in Leicester city center years ago. They may have stainless lifting eyes.

Rich I just asked locally at our fixing place but nothing with a nice long bolt on it,
Let me know this evening if. You've been able to source some
Can always try again next weekend,
(You can always get some longer one from ebay, don't bother with short ones. They won't have enough length to pass though bed, add a washer or so + get the nut on properly
