Super Moon
Having purchased a larger telescope some months ago I thought the combination of "Super Moon", "Blue Moon" and "Blood Moon" was a good excuse to try it out for the first time. I have only set it up roughly to get the alignment scope somewhere near. It was set to the farthest away chimney pot I could see. This was just near enough to get the edge of the moon at first viewing.
I reset the alignment scope on the moon centre. Hopefully, that will be of more use later, without the glare of the full moon, when star gazing.
You can just see my 8 inch in the backyard before I took it further up the garden to see over the house.
Not bad but far too bright. My last scope had a moon filter to darken down the full moon image and I forgot just how bright a full moon was.
I had to put the tube end cap on with the 50mm view hole half obscured with a piece of cardboard before I could get a decent look.
With NO dedicated camera mount as yet the best I could get was a snap off the old mobile phone.
I didnt bother to stay up, or get up, to watch the lunar eclipse. I remember the last one, which was at a more convenient hour.
That was a couple of days ago.
Today was a trip to the garden centre for a plant to screen off the next door neighbours.
Settled on a rather large bamboo. That will work when it restarts glowing in the spring

Booked a 5 day caravan holiday on the south coast for 2nd week in March. At £165 I thought "A Bargin" Central heating, Indoor heated pool opens on site that week too. I need a break from cutting and welding
