Forum member, Sparetyre, who confesses to a long term interest in demountables, has located period reviews of some units from a collection of publications.

Reproduced here for the interest and possible benefit of members.

"Thought you might like this for your 80s section. The prototype we went to see in Germany was built on a Lada Niva. Sounds odd but was actually pretty good properly usable. If the Niva Soft top had been available in RHD at the time we might have had go with them. I have some more info from them in the archives. Will dig it out"

That Lada looks similar to this, though not as ugly. I seem to remember it was a kit by Kontiki that you could build on a donor Cortina or similar

Yeah, it's a Starcraft (nothing to do with the American RV manufacturer). Much sought after in its day and it used to have an enthusiastic owners' club. Don't know whether they still exist.

Previous demountables: Island Plastics 'Suntrekker' on P100, S.Karosser 'EC8L' on Ranger supercab, self-built pop-top on Ranger double cab
Current demountables: Rhino 'Safari' hardside on Ranger double cab
