So if you saw a sign saying no overnight parking for motorhomes / motor caravans would you obey the sign ?

To my knowledge there is no legal definition of motorhome
Our vehicles are not of a body type 'Motor Caravan' on the V5, more likely 'pickup' and cannot be registered as a motor caravan as the definitions from the dvla require things to be 'fixed' and by definition they are not on a demountable. THe demount as I see it is basically cargo on the pickup

I've always read it as implicitly 'nothing on wheels' probably also to include gypsy caravan & pony,
but who knows?

wouldn't you rather just cosy up in a CC type club house somewhere and wait for the bingo to kick off :D

no, probably not really your scene at all eh

A sign needs to be legal otherwise its worthless.

So no legal sign , no valid prohibition

And no don't do bingo although lisa has been known to participate down the working mens club in lincoln

Suppose you would have to use your judgement and you've travelled a lot more than I have so I'd have to defer,
the first people to pop up would likely be a warden of some sort and they's have to go away and ask a grown-up

If plod got involved (if they were that bothered) it would depend on what sort turns up, and you know how that can go

The signs in Woolacombe say No overnight sleeping, washing or cooking ! It does not specify a particular vehicle.
I may be giving away our age a bit here , but I don't like the thought of someone knocking on the door in the small hours and having to clamber off the shelf to see what's going on.( although it would not be me doing that) . There was an incident where a couple had been harassed by boy racers while wildcamping and the bloke strangled his wife later thinking she was an intruder when she got up to answer call of nature.
Anyway a clubhouse in the winter has it's benefits as you can dry off all your jackets etc. and have a glass or two in the meantime. :D We have still not been drawn into the bingo /daily mail though .Happy days .

In Bournemouth, along the overcliff, the signs say "No sleeping, selling or overnight camping". These are backed up by a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) and local bylaws.

Personally I wild camp 95% of the time but would generally not camp where there are signs prohibiting it. I don't want to upset anyone or give campers a bad name - I want to distance myself from travellers who park where they like, are generally detested and often leave such a mess.
