Shall watch it again now, and I thought the trees in background were mostly growing upright too...

They forgot to edit the grass.

Must say I missed that Keith, I watched this yesterday and focussed on the trees. Missing out the other clues

I see what you're saying about the grass but the way the wheels are locking up and sliding on the way down looks pretty convincing to me.

Keep watching it but still can't decide, trees normally grow pretty vertical, grass I know from mowing it doesn't always

The slope looks pretty constant, but when the vehicle first pulls onto it it appears to be around 30 degrees, but as the cameraman pans around and start looking up it makes the angle appear suddenly much steeper, up to 60 degrees , implying the change is more to do with the angle the camera is held at rather than the actual slope.

Even on a 30 degree slope an unloaded front wheel is likely to slip if a vehicle stops or loses momentum unless the slope is completely even tarmac or concrete.

Also, having competed in trials and seen enough vehicles roll, I tend to have a skeptical view of people's claim of the slopes they can ascend.

Wow, they were amazingly lucky to get away with that . It demonstrates the classic problem: the failed hill climb. Problem is, once he lost forward momentum he immediately started to slide backwards. You really want to be able to stop completely - then engage reverse, which he didn't have time to do, and allow the vehicle to trickle back down the hill with all the wheels turning and therefore steering. He was on his brakes with his wheels locked, so even though he tried to steer, it wasn't doing anything because his wheels were locked - i.e. when it is sliding the wheel doesn't care which direction it is pointing it just goes where it goes. Inevitably you end up slewing around to one side or the other and that is when the vehicle is unstable - you have both side slope and now sideways momentum.

Found another video of that too. When someone isn't holding the camera at a strange angle you can see it is just beyond 30 degrees. But that is enough to ruin your day.
