For those running Company owned pickup and require insurance on camper ONLY
'bookend' secured insurance using
Camping and caravan club insurance
Note; be persistent with them! ask for a supervisor if needed as it's a bit complicated for their advisors

so if they have to 'call' it a caravan with wheels surely it might be worth just setting up a scheme to insure demounales and have done

Sheriff wrote:My camper is covered by C&CC. They didn't have demountable as a category so they called it a 'touring caravan (demountable)'. I got a quote from Adrian Flux who would only cover both together (as has been mentioned) and their price for the truck was astronomical.
I had the same issue with flux, the demount bit was only 170 or so but they doubled my pickup insurance

Hi, We have our Northstar with Crusader
http://www.crusaderinsurance.co.uk/
for £250 under their touring caravan policy) and truck separately for £450 with Churchill.. Works for us but camper insurance includes repatriation of camper only (because they think it's a caravan). It worries me how they would do that if truck was badly damaged.
By the way we had a claim last year after clipping a large boulder very lightly with one of the rear legs while turning in a gateway. I hardly felt it but it wrenched the leg slightly and the whole corner had to be rebuilt. TWO GRAND!! Won't do that again! Tony

Hi, We have our demountable only with Crusader via the caravan club. £246/annum. Good service when we had a big claim and premium didn't go up on renewal. Try them. Tony

I've just been getting quotes for my insurance renewal due at beginning of May. Quotes from last year's insurers are :-
Truck - Budget Insurance - £513 (includes breakdown cover for truck only)
Camper - CCC - £160 (no breakdown cover)
I also got a quote from Campton for truck and camper (but with no breakdown cover) - £272.
Looks like a no-brainer, but I need to find breakdown cover that includes truck and camper.

I can't believe everything's going so well! Green Flag 'Mayday' cover via Caravan Club - £68 UK recovery with or without the camper attached. They will cover demountables for Europe too but you have to go through a separate 'Red Pennant' service.
