Hey just for the record there are NO sour grapes from our cloudy island, I don't resent the fact you live a pampered existence in the sunshine

Been starting the airbag fit. The kit as it arrived is beautifully made, but all the brackets and wiring are made for LHD.
Image

Started by fitting the compressor. I couldn't just reverse the position from the LHD because the electrics on RHD cars is right in the wrong place. Found a space for it behind the light switch, and the pre-sized wiring still fitted perfectly.

Even the little doo-dah for cable tying the wiring to the bulkhead included the kit.

Switch and gauge panel next.

Switch panel mounted - it fits on the side of the dash - would be drivers side on LHD but ends up on the passenger side in England. Needed to extend the wire to hook up with the compressor where I have fitted it.

The original panel had the passenger airbag switch on it, so I've relocated that to the glovebox.

Now to the rear axle....

Have re-read the instructions for fitting the airbags to the rear axle and it means taking off the u-bolts. The torque settings are those ones with an extra half-turn after torquing up, so I checked in the VW workshop manual - and sure enough, the bolts are use once only. Of course the VW dealer doesn't have them in stock... GRRRR.
