There is a chassis rust issue with Toyota Hilux's that Toyota are dealing with.
Any Hilux uo to 12 years old is being recalled. The only condition seems to be you must have owned the vehicle for at least 6 months.
You can check if yours is in the recall using Toyota's recall checker and entering you reg no here. https://www.toyota.co.uk/owners/vehicle ... on/recalls
The procedure seems to be you get booked in for an inspection and depending on the findings you either get a repair or a complete new chassis. There is a long wait for an inspection at the moment due to demand, mine won't even go for it's inspection until July 2026, unless something on the chassis breaks or fails an MOT before then, but at least is is logged into the system. I was informed this process will be ongoing for at least 3 years, so the important thing is get it logged into the process before it's 12th birthday from first registration.
If it goes for a new chassis, (most Mk 7's appear to be having a new chassis) it will be away for 2 to 3 months and you will be provided a courtesy car for that period. Not necessarily another pickup.
I am sure a lot of pickup owners will be reading this so is it possible for this post to be pinned and in a prominent place always visible on the main forum list so it's easy to see please?
