And I added a strip of this to front of each step for when its been wet, it moulds over
the tread patterns of the steps and is tough long lasting

Thanks Zildjian,

I will certainly be looking to fit some to the steps.
It always seems to be wet and muddy when I go out in it :D

Made a start on the vinyl graphics.
I need to sort out my heat gun to try to get the wrinkles out but its better than a plain white side.
Its suprising how long it takes to cut those leafs out and even worse trying to stick them on.

Hi all.
The time has come for me to admit I'm getting old. Too old to continue with all the projects and passtimes that take up all my time, space and energy.
So, it is with a sad heart, I will be putting my demountable up for sale. I need to take a heap more photographs to post, and some dimensions, but it will have to go.
I will be putting up on this web site/forum first. Then on the "sister" forum followed by the other online market places, eBay, Gumtree, and Facebook marketplace.
The journey of the build history is here for all to see, warts and all. As far as I am concerned it will always be "Work in progress" never a finished demountable because with use, I always found improvements or modification that I wanted to carry out. As soon as it was watertight I started to use it. It has given me many hours of pleasure both while building and using. The satisfaction of "I built that". The comfort I found in use, compared with both tent camping and the teardrop trailer, were immeasurable.

Just to let you know, I will be looking for £3000.00 for it as it stands. This really is just to cover the build costs. When it comes to it, if it does not sell, I will be stripping out all the useful parts to use on my caravan.

I would like to say a big thank you to Zildjian, who operates this site, for all the help and friendship he has shown me over the years.(Look forward to seeing the new drone)

Still no picture but this is the sales description:

Sadly, up for sale.

This home built demountable slide in camper was originally a rough copy of a Skarosser?
It has been modified many times during its use, to suit my changing ideas and requirements.
It is intended to be a 3 berth. One double in the cab over and a single in place of the dining area.
It has a 2 burner hob and sink unit with pump in removable water carrier.
3 speed suck and blow 400mm square roof light
3 x 10 inch led strip lights
Twin Calor Gas bottles(1 butane, 1 propane) complete with switch over and regulator to suit.
A 40 watt car stereo system with 4 speakers
2 x 110Ah leisure batteries
360 W solar panel
A Epever 30 solar controller with remote display
240V mains hook up
Exterior locking security handle
Exterior gas take off for a outdoor BBQ
12v to 240V inverter (1000watt continuous) with 2 x 240 sockets
2Kw diesel air heater with tank fitted with a superior “Afterburner” electronic controler.
Fixing to my Wildtrack pickup is done with 4 turnbuckles to the load hooks in the tub.
These are adjusted through access panels inside the camper.

The construction for the demountable can be seen, with all the good and bad bits, by going to:-

https://demountablecampergroup.com/

at the bottom of the page,
Self builders & projects please
and look for “ SKarosser Copy Scratch Home build?????”

It is constructed mainly of 25mm x 1.5thick aluminium box section in a space frame design with heavier gauge 3”x 1” inch where extra strength or support were needed. The outer skin is off a role fibreglass sheet, single pieces where possible for water tightness.
Having learned lessons on previous projects, it is made to be water tight and rot proof.

The demountable has adjustable legs at the front and stands on 6 concrete blocks at the rear with the raising and lowering done using a 48 inch farm jack. All of which can be included in the sale.
It was intended to fit wind up legs all around but in use I found I never wanted to dismount the camper and found the jack relatively easy and quite adequate. Similarly, there is a separate compartment with a porta-potty toilet in it, which is handy for night time calls. It was intended to be a wash/shower/toilet compartment but again in use I found everywhere I went to camp and stay had toilet, shower and washing facilities available.
This has been not just the most comfortable and enjoyable camping I have ever done but an interesting hobby too. It was always “work in progress” to me.

The asking price is £2750 Most of which is to cover the materials build cost.
