Trailer lights

Post: # 8147Post Bookend

I have adapted a camping trailer to use behind the demountable but as the demountable uses the trailer electrics there is no where to plug the trailer in unless I disconect the demountable

If you have working trailer lights do the vehicle lights need to work?

The only other option is to fit an additional socket?

Thoughts please

Well I would have said just use the trailer lights myself unless its one of those tiny halfords things in which case leave the trailer lights off

It's a legal requirement that the trailer lights work but can't find anything about vehicle lights.

It's only a small trailer and it won't get towed very often but fitting a second socket would be a pain.

I could make up a double extension lead I suppose :?

It has to be both lit I'm afraid.
Make up, or get made up a 7 pin doubler. Ie 1 x male Conn with 2 x female Conn. Not enough amps to trouble the system with an extra lighting board.

Just an piece of aluminium tube inserted into the draw bar to extend it by 600mm for the overhang of the camper.

Nothing special

It was great coming home after 2 weeks away to a short lawn and no grass to cut.

Oh well I'll get the bits tomorrow to sort it.

Current draw should be ok as the camper lights are LED

I've added an extra trailer connector to the truck so I can run both camper and trailer at the same time.
