The lifting handles have broken ,the plastic gets brittle with age, due to the way the Hartal.
unit is made you can't replace just the handles

Start inside the camper by removing the four screws holding the inner trim panel, when this
panel is removed you will see the four fixings which hold the outer frame, remove these.
Now get on the roof and remove the four screws holding the dome cover, remove this along
with the vent panel, break the seal between the frame and roof this I did with a strong paint
Scraper.

Remove the frame and all the old mastic from around the opening and clean the surface ready
for the new Butyl tape, two layers of tape were applied to make a thicker bed.Image

Assembly is straightforward bed the new outer frame on the new tape then from inside the camper.
fix the inner trim this secures the frame to the roof and pulls it down on to the new seal.
Back on the roof I ran a bead of Sika ebt sealant around the outer frame and roof to finish the
Seal, replace the vent panel and dome.JOB DONE.

Time taken about two and a half hours.
A complete new unit was purchased but for this repair only the outer frame was required.

Nice job. Does the tape bed seal take time to cure?
Where do you get it from? Tape that is

I used Visqueen double sided jointing tape, it's a butyl mastic tape and stays
flexible when compressed it does not cure and will pick up dirt and grit hence
making the final seal with Sika ebt it only comes in 50 mm wide and this project
only required 25 mm so there was a lot of waste.
Both items were obtained from Keyline Builders Merchants.

You've done a good job there buddy. Was there a choice of different type of skylights ? ie a fully opening one. Or did you just go for the same one knowing that there wouldn't be any issues with fitting, size etc ?

I purchased this as a direct replacement knowing there would be no issues with fitting
but my main reason was to get the advantage of the four way opening which this type
of roof light gives.
I had thought about fitting a larger light but I will need the roof surface for more solar panel.

Depending on weather this weekend I intend to follow this excellent pictorial and do exactly the same thing as my skylight fittings have become brittle too
