Quite so, there were a couple of campers that used fixed legs like that, most of us thought it made them too vulnerable, especially for components so expensive to replace as well!

I must admit I hadn't thought about grass verges and the like. Or even high curbs as I tend to ignore them with the big wheels but legs????
I might need them detachable
A lot will depend on how far out the bottom section telescopes up the leg I suppose.

Zildjian, when your demountable comes out of hibernation I need another look see to check out the things that I have missed.

Good News
Thunder passed its MOT yesterday although 2 advisories, brake pipes looking rusty, and a bit of oil mist on one of the shock absorber bodies.
Could be a session underneath with some emery cloth. Once I get a bit of weight in the back could be a new pair of shocks although do you think one on its own is ok?
I always fit tires in pairs. Plus I am considering some air assisters on the back?

Managed a good session on the camper (well good for me  )

I got the welder out
[url][/Imageurl]

Welded the bed section properly this time, fillet welds and all after making a few modifications to make it fit
Image

I fixed some of the cabin end vertical sections in place ready to weld. Put the table in between the seats to make sure it still fitted :?: No problems

I then tried the bed in place. Again no problems

Image

I have decided to put the vertical sliding window above the Cooker/sink area so I welded the frame up and placed it in position. It won't be welded in until the fiberglass sheet is off as it doesn't like the heat

Last, the back verticals were put together ready to weld. Now I have settled on the door height I can think about making a door
I intend a stable door arrangement but have virtually run out of box section and don't have enough to make it. When I have sorted how much more I need for completion I will put an order in. I need enough for a wardrobe door, cupboard door, overhead lockers, shower door, gas locker frame, worktop frame, along with an amount of angle to enable watertight door seals and stops.
I might put a roof rack on the list of things to do.

I have now started to dismantle for the last time(I HOPE) ready to weld up the parts I have assembled and not fillet welded. Then it will be to put all the checker plate back on the bottom section and move it all to its final assembly point to start the build 8-)
I will refit and fix into position all the exterior angle pieces(to make it watertight   ) as it will be easier to do it with the bottom up rather than laying on my back.

I'm starting to get a little excited

Hi Mark

I have been following your build, it's a great read and so much better for all the photo's. I love all the humour & have really felt for you when thing's haven't quite worked out.

Really looking forward to actually seeing it once it's finished. Did i read that you might make the Social this year?

Hi Mike,
thanks for that. I try to post what I would like to see myself.
I think if you can't laugh at yourself then there is not much hope. My cup is always half full 8-)The build is just a reflection of life really.
(that's a bit deep :? )

The social this year might be just wishful thinking BUT, if I have a bare bones watertight box by then, I hope to give it a go. I would like to meet all the happy campers 8-) to admire their campers and steal any good idea's

More Bits

As I'm getting excited about the build. I thought I'd better do something about the legs to get it on and off the truck.
So I have purchased all the things I need to make legs :? All I need to do is come up with a working design that I can make 8-)

Thanks, Mike
I am looking at something like the happijack. I have downloaded their service sheet. All I need to do is make something similar with the machines that are available to me. It also has to fit the materials that I have to hand. Then hope it works
The two pieces of box are cut to make a mock up
