PS - worth picking up the points Silversand raises. He (Derek) is a friend of mine who lives on a mountain outside Montreal where it is -20c and lower for a good chunk of the year. He is also a weather specialist. You may recall we did a camping tour of New England with him last year. He has a lot of specialist knowledge about rain forest survival and gets employed as a consultant for such - not that that really helps Chris much

I've finally had time to catch up with this - it makes a really interesting read, especially all the US 'you're going to die' answers.
There's a lot of food for thought, and I'll have a good think about some of the suggestions. I seem to be running out of time and too many jobs still to do. And still no truck. Tis all getting a bit fraught

Well it sounds an interesting trip/job you're embarking on whats the latest on the ranger, I had heard they have cooling issues on (some models)
