Yes better value, yes hold their value (at least better than your first choice)
Similar construction though more proven through international sales parts readily available, there is a UK dealership for want of a better term, but plenty of owners on the forum and a buyers guide for advice.

Your mate sounds a useful sort as both those camper would need panels peeling back to repair woodwork and then reinstating.

750D model campers appear fairly often here in UK for sale don't very often require repair
Legs seized electric motors jammed that sort of thing nothing major anyway

I think Ranger campers are similar build but reportedly last longer, there is another Apollo on ebay this week if of interest but you might do better with the other one (european adventure) as that was rebuilt mostly by a member here before the present seller had it
