Hello From A Yet To Be Demounter

Hi

I've been wanting a pickup camper for years, but just managed to convince MrsDTB that we can start to look seriously. :D

So as complete newby who is looking to get a complete setup (I've got no pickup or camper), who has only camped in the past, are there any top tips??

I'm mainly interested in advice on buying a used pickup, and what models people might think as most suitable for camper use. Any things I need to look out for etc. There seems to be a paucity of advice in this area.

It'd need to be a full double cab with five seats.

We've got a really tight budget so any advice on buying 2nd hand campers etc is great.

Basically apart from looking into demountables in general terms online and deciding that the seem the thing for me I don't really know much!

I understand you have a kinda scheme where we can hookup with local owners to look at and discuss their rigs. So I'd be really interested to speak to some people about what's what.

I'm in Hudderfield, West Yorks,

Thanks in advance, this seems like a really friendly and helpful place to be. Sorry for the, erm, extensive first post. I've had loads of questions rattling around in my head prior to finding the boards.

Hi, good morning

Your budget would be helpful of course but we operate a daily for sale section so you can judge how your cash will stretch,
Opinion's divided on UK manufactured campers although there are a couple of Rangers on sale this week,
One a member here (in Essex) another your neck of the woods in Yorkshire I believe.

Apollo is an option but as we ALWAYS advise, take a damp meter to avoid disappointment later on

Other than that please take a minute to glance through out buyers guide section and save yourself some money and heartache

Welcome to group

Hi

Thanks for the advice. The damp meter seems like a good idea. Wouldn't have thought of that.

Those guides are good, for common faults. Somehow I missed them when looking through the forums.

Plenty of advice here, We are not yet owners either so you won't be alone asking questions.

Have you seen any particular campers you like so far?
