Planning stage 1

Hi,

Just thought I might start a thread for the build of my camper.

I am planning a build for a King Cab Navara / Extra Cab Toyota or Ranger

So far the external dimensions for the Cabin are to be similar to the Tischer 260.

I have had a quote from a panel manufacturer for £3000+vat for the panels pre cut ready to assemble
Also Tischer sell the cabin of a 260 for about £10,000

I have a JPG of what I want to build so i'll post that later

Does anyone have any thoughts on the base vehicle also. I think I am leaning to a navara but the chassis rot problem will be an issue for me.

Nissan look about the least popular choice for anything around here just lately,
you know they have their very own facebook group because of their chassis snapping i suppose?

Yes I get that feeling.

I think maybe a Ford Ranger.

I like the Toyota but the interior is not great

Yeah, I've had two - a Mk2 extra cab (basic model) and currently a Mk3 double cab (XLT). Not had a problem with either of them, so far, but maybe I've been lucky. I rate them quite highly.

Previous demountables: Island Plastics 'Suntrekker' on P100, S.Karosser 'EC8L' on Ranger supercab, self-built pop-top on Ranger double cab
Current demountables: Rhino 'Safari' hardside on Ranger double cab

That's encouraging.

I do have a jpg to post but not sure how to. I'm sure it's on here I'll have a look.

Handy if a manufacturer will sell you panels in fit form though i'd have thought.
Do they come as flat pack components or can you buy a complete she'll ready sealed?

Interesting anyway
