Best place to go to buy a USED demountable?

Anyone know of any 'demountable dealers' that actually have half a dozen or so of used campers in stock?

I'm guessing that I'm going to have to ✖ the channel because the UK dealers don't seem to be much help on this front,....even if I could afford to order a brand new one, I'd want to physically inspect/see exactly what I'm buying first.

I don't particularly want to drive thousands of miles away in a pickup (which I haven't even bought yet) with a large sum of money just to buy/bring back a camper unit but I fear that there's not much option. :(

The nearest that your going to see some stock is either Niche marketing near Louth in Lincolnshire. I've called in here & they have 2 or 3 new / used campers for you to view which tend to be mostly Northstars.
Or you can see Golum from {censored promotion} in South Wales. He can sometimes have 4 campers in stock which are also a mix of new / used. he tends to have mainly Tischers & the odd Skarosser from time to time.
Failing that, the best thing to do is to hook up with members from here who are willing to show you around their own campers. From there you can make a calculated decision on what to look for & an appropriate budget.
I'm in Bolton if your anywhere nearby & would happily show you round our rig over a brew ;)

I bought my Northstar in Louth, niche marketing. They're on the old RAF Manby estate and usually have a handful of new and secondhand rigs. Kind regards, K33F
2003 Ford Ranger 2.5 TD 109 Supercab, sold to Simon
Tandy Pony, sold
Northstar 750, sold
K33F-built Penthouse Pee Pod, sold to Simon with the Ranger
Built the lozenge for my wee sister, its now finished and in regular use
Now converting a blue Tranny.

Thanks for the replies chaps. :)

I am aware of the UK dealers that have been mentioned, never actually visited them, only visited their websites/spoke over the phone only to hear that they haven't got much stock of anything, certainly very scarce when it comes to second hand ones. :(

Zildjian, I'm in Lincolnshire now, we would want a fixed height camper (can't be doing with raising roofs) and it must have a built in toilet/shower cubical, we would also like the bench seat to be long enough for my wife to use as a bed as is, without having to mess around with boards/cushions to turn that area into a proper bed.

She is only 5ft 4" tall so we were thinking/hoping that the bench seat in say the Northstar 750 would be long enough??

I haven't even got a pickup yet but I'm swaying towards an extra cab version, I figure that this would be the best chassis to go for to take the size/outlay of camper that we want? Again, extra cab Hi lux or Dmax for sale seems to be thin on the ground.

We have ended up ordering new, but we couldn't have made that decision without visiting a number of group members as well as all the UK dealers. We travelled a fair few miles but we hope we will end up with what is right for us.

Don't think the Swedish ones have long bench seats, that might only be Northstar with their 'L' layout.

Did you get hold of Niche by phone?
I wasn't able to myself easily

OK, well if you're leaning towards the Northstar layout then a visit to Manby Lincolnshire as that would be easiest Greg Howman usually has some new ones to look at certainly, if you then wanted one just keep watching our sales thread till another one comes up (fairly routine item)

I'm asking around for a used one to view meantime
and if you haven't already you should read through our buyers guides on all popular UK units
so you're armed with pertinent questions before viewing any.

oh and buy a Damp meter cheap off ebay (your new best friend) :)

Ranger are gone I read on here, and Apollo were flooded out so probably out of action doesn't leave a lot of choice for new campers at least
