Demountable camper group

Hi. Have just bought a VW Amarok and now looking for the camper to go with it. We've looked at a Ranger locally that was on a Land Rover that seemed to have coped with some serious travelling very well. We hope to visit Apollo and Northstar soon. Can't afford new though. I'm keeping an eye on the for sale thread. Has anyone bought from the European sellers. They seem to be more popular over there.
Anyone with specific advice on the Amarok would be useful.

has been on sale in your area now for months and months, its been reduced but still no takers I see.

what are your needs in a camper as in where do you expect to use it, (some are better suited to colder climates)

Hi. Yes we hadn't realised quite how close to us it was, but it's has made our mind up to buy a Demountable rather than another type of camper. We've had a boat for a number of years on the Thames, mainly used in the summer months, which we will continue to enjoy. So the camper will extend our season hopefully. We hardly use the heater on the boat, but the engine is virtually inside, so that takes the chill off. We like to cook, so an oven, not just a microwave would be good, but we can build a decent barbecue. When we hired a camper we rarely stayed at campsites, so toilet and washing facilities are a must (we had no hot water for many years on the boat but do appreciate it now). Shaped cushions to sit on are good, rather than just a flat piece of foam, and a decent mattress (don't we sound geriatric, but somewhere to come home to after a day's walking is what we need). I can fix something up that needs some work, but once that's done, I don't want to waste time fiddling with it when I could be out enjoying it.

OK then right,
most if not all present campers will fit a VW fine, they'll have fitted seating, obviously a fixed bed, heating, washing & toilets.
Ovens appear in some of them, though more likely a two or three ring hob,
apollo campers are fitted with microwave, we have just substituted ours for a small oven on gas for when off-grid,
solar power is common these days to maintain battery and provide LED light and power, a choice of fridges both modern and old tech all of them are three way in power, in fact many of the things you've had on a boat you'll find translate across to campers

Just to add Northstars are really well made and can cope in reasonable winters.

Thank you all for your welcome and input. The buying guides are very useful. The enemy is clearly the damp. I don 't know if Apollo are worse than others in this respect, or whether there are just more out there to be commented on. Having said that, it all seems fixable, so the key is not to pay too much for one that needs work.
Skarossers seem to be popular with group members but haven't seen many for sale.

Hi from Somerset.

We have an Amarok with Apollo. We've had to fit a frame in the truck bed to raise the camper up due to the Amarok having a taller cab and tub sides than most, so this might be worth keeping in mind when looking around.

Whilst we did have a damp/rot issue, it was due to unrepaired accident damage but we're staying vigilant and have recently discovered the manufacturer recommends resealing every 2 years.

We recently viewed a Lely Camper (now called Dutch Campers I believe) and these are moulded, as are some Tischers, so there are no joins to let water in.
