That's the strange part another dealer said if I hadn't got the original key with the chip they could not do it either to which I replied if I had the original key I would not need another one. They asked me to bring the key as the battery might be loose or flat thinking I was a probably a bit dim told them about the chip again not being in the key & they quoted around the same price as the other one but if I have to go down that root I will have to I suppose but hoping someone might bring me a cheaper solution to it somehow as it greaves me to pay that just for losing a key thanks Garry

OK Garry I've posted it on HPOC
GARRY
they'll know if anyone
BTW I think you're right to give dealer a miss, I went to them with a problem assuming they'd be best qualified
they not only entered my contact telephone number into their system wrong I left for them in HUGE PRINTED note on seat,

they then managed only to turn ON previously unlit engine management light and couldn't contact me all day either to tell me

In some cases with electroinic keys, several key/auto electrical specialists can clone the original. However this relies on reading/scanning the radio frequency (the chip) of the orginal key. Without the chip or radio frequency its virtually impossible to clone or provide a replacement key. The only option is to replace the locks, keys and ecu.

Called a locksmith this morning & yep your right without the key it cannot be done. Toyota did say that but I did not believe them as I took it there a while ago for injectors to be done they wanted £1800 after a diagnostic check loads a money again picked it up from them the next morning it run for a bit then spotted that some how the fuel filter had come loose strange that had to hand prime to get it to run. I eventually found a company for the injectors on the net did it for £450.
The company I found on the net for the key are coming out Monday & charging me £420 I will look after it as if it were gold from now on.
The Toyota seems to be a little unlucky for me since buying it might go back to an early Isuzu if I can find a good one had two in the past they were great but not sure if it would carry the camper might have to decided whether to sell as a package Toyota plus camper then start again from scratch
