Re: new member
MPG is negligible really, obviously its not the same as empty truck but not a fright no.
there was a Co mentioned on here (down in dorset I think) if nobody else knows, I'll take a look around for it now,
seem to recall they offer a shell as a DIY fit out but quite pricey.
Is there a special reason for this option, it would be cheaper off the shelf so to speak

A common thought here Chris, but not using them though,
there was mention of Spanish business that offered a less expensive option but then again its away in Spain

Hola Chris - Mark here just back from Portugal.
My thoughts would be to look on some of the French sites (on our Ebay Sales page of the forum) and buy a LHD truck and camper as a complete outfit, that way you'll get a fully fitted rig possibly with air suspension. I'm in Portugal a couple of times a year and don't recall ever seeing one there.
You don't need to be overly fussy with the base vehicle, they are all much of a muchness - go with what suits your budget and research problem from there. One or two early Nissans and Mitsubishis had engine issues, but if you get one that already gone bang and has been fixed you're good to go.
Check out importing from other countries into Portugal first, there may be tax implications that make it difficult.
Some EU countries make importing a vehicle very difficult, and some make home registration a tough battle.
Its easy to import a vehicle into the UK for instance, but I have some knowledge of the Greek import system and importing a pickup would be absolutely impossible (unless you were 'friendly' with the town mayor that is )
