Dismal Demountable Dealer

Being new to the demountable scene I have so far discovered three dealers, one in Lincolnshire, one in South Wales and one in Dorset. If there are others I would be grateful for their details.

I have decided that over the next few months I will try to visit each dealer; all of them are approximately 3 hours drive from home so none are local to me.

This weekend I decided to visit the Lincolnshire dealer, I phoned them last Thursday to advise them that I would be visiting and to confirm that they would be open this morning (Monday) and was advised that they would be open. Due to the distance involved I decided to make a weekend of it, booking accommodation.

Having arrived at their lockup this morning around 10.30 I was greeted by locked gates. I therefore phoned their number to hear an answer machine message that they were shut for the whole week. How they can advise me last Thursday that they would be open and then shut for the whole of the following week astounds me.

I have wasted a 6 hour round trip, along with the cost of accommodation, meals etc.

They have totally let me down, they have shown to me that I cannot rely upon them and they have gone to the bottom of my list of demountable dealers. They certainly won't be taking any orders from me.

I only hope that their competition are more reliable. :(

They are based in Manby, Lincolnshire, which is close to Louth.

They seem to specialise in Northstar Demountables along with 5th Wheels

Mmmm, Manby - I recall we used to go there for heavy vehicle trials. Seemed a bit dismal to me, but maybe that was the time of year we held our events

You should get a much better response from both Gary and Morag in Dorset and Golum in Wales. And in my opinion they sell superior products - it is then down to you to decide which of those products you prefer.

PS - does the "101" in your username refer to anything in particular? (presumably not a 1984 reference)

Good luck.

Steve.

Hi Steve

Thanks for the info. Yes I am pleased that I can expect a better response from Gary & Morag and Golum, and that it sounds as though they offer a better product as I certainly don't want to deal with the Manby dealer again. I have emailed them over the last couple of weeks and both have responded promptly so I am more hopeful.

In respect of the "101" reference it doesn't refer to 1984, even though that happens to be the year I left school & I also had to study the book at school as well. It simply refers to part of my email address, it was the first email address number that was available. So nothing clever there.

Wouldn't hold you breath TBH, I emailed him about 5 years back and that didn't get a response either

its unfortunate your first experience in our world was disappointing, I'll have Golum put on a spread to make up for it :)

Irvine hello,
Hope you got a better level of customer service from Dorset & Wales as we'd not read anything here I though I'd ask how you were getting on now?
