Hi Guys

Yes, sorry, September is a crazy month. We're at the boat show until the 21/22nd, then at the Lely factory 23/24th the at the Overland/Adventure/4x4 show on 26/27th. We are staying in the demo van most of this time but didn't really want to post sort of 'snap shots'. We have uploaded a load of photos onto the website though http://www.sbsadventurecampers.com and also our Facebook page http://facebook.com/sbsadventurecampers - have you seen these?

The legs are stowed on the outside of the body on special brackets (under the sides) on all but the mini models. As you'd expect they are extremely high quality and manufactured in stainless steel. They are lightweight and not powered. No normal euro truck has enough weight carrying capacity to sensibly carry powered legs on a full size camper. If you want to power them there are some superb lightweight rechargable 'windy' guns. They weigh very little and will easily lift/lower your camper as well as being a handy tool to own. Choose one you can switch the impact mode off though.

Best wishes

I take it that those two square holes are where the legs slot into? Are the legs just secured in place via those two bolts that I can see? That's a pretty neat idea, better than the angled type bracket that's just bolted onto the corner of some campers that I've seen,....well in my opinion. :)

If I can't have legs that stay in place/retract in their own housing then I'd like them to be very quick and easy to remove/refit, that's what I'm thinking. :)

The ones you are looking at are on the Mini-Runner. They are somewhat different to the others (it's a much smaller camper) and to replicate these brackets on a body not designed to carry the stresses there will require very careful planning. On the bigger campers the rear legs are permanently bolted on and the front ones slide up into a socket under the front corners. I am not sure if the factory will be prepared to sell the legs as an aftermarket item but I'm there next week so will ask. If they are it would be helpful if you could PM some drawings and dimensions of what's required. Be aware though that they are rather special and are fabricated entirely in stainless steel.

Best wishes

Thanks for the info Gary, I haven't got any dimensions in mind yet, I don't even have an Hi-Lux yet to put it on. :lol:

I'm really looking at all options at the moment, I know that I'd rather have an extra cab version rather than a single or double cab and the camper needs to have a sofa section that's long enough for my wife to be able to use as a bed without actually making it up into a bed. That's the only two requirements that are concrete at the mo.

Lely update...

For several decades Lelycampers has remained one of Holland’s best kept secrets. A range of highly regarded demountable and adventure campers, but only available for the Dutch market.

Then around three years ago the company changed hands, the new owners retained all the positive attributes from before but also brought along new blood, new technology, new equipment and a desire to spread the word outside of Holland. Increased production capacity meant you no longer had to be Dutch to enjoy a Lely, and with their legendary reputation for light weight, comfort, strength and durability, these fabulous Dutch Campers rapidly found many eager customers throughout Europe.

As most markets refer to them simply as ‘the Dutch Campers’, and perhaps find the model names a little confusing, it would seem that a little rebranding might be in order…

So welcome to ‘Dutch Campers’. The same great campers, the same incredible combination of light weight and bomb proof durability, the same sumptuous comfort, only now with names and model designations that don’t seem like Double Dutch!

Dutch Camper model designations:
  • DC = Dutch Campers
    200 = Floor length
    R = Rear Door
    S = Side Door
    F = Flat floor for chassis or flat tray mounting
All models are available in ‘Standard‘ and ‘Deluxe‘ models. Most models are also available in ruggedised ‘Enduro‘ specification for even more adventurous use.
