Well I've taken it all apart, it was a struggle as it's all full of grease and of course those pics and instructions are all nice and clean and you can see what your doing. There is a broken circlip within the threaded section. I can't see it on the exploded view though so will have to contact them again. The thread does run through a nylon block at the top of the inner leg, it seems quite loose so I'm thinking the thread is worn out within the nylon. Interesting even though the top gear housing was packed with grease the threaded portion was dry. Cant see how the grease can get to it. Hopefully the new leg will arrive tomorrow and I can just bolt it straight on.
