Rear view mirrors

Post: # 27918Post Highlander

Hi all,
We'll be collecting a Northstar camper at the beginning of April with a 2011 Hilux.....my question is about the drivers rear view with the standard door mirrors.....all OK or will I need to source an extended mirror like I sometimes see on caravan tow cars?
Thanks for the answer

Hi,
Expensive extending mirrors are available for hundreds of pounds but most owners go for the Halfords type usually,
with practise I found I could manage without in any case !

Hi Highlander, not sure if your Front legs fold away out of sight on your model , but I have a "Ranger Demountable" and I remove my front side legs and store them in the gap between the floor and pickup bed. They add considerable width (and possible snag hazard) if left in place so I remove them :)

Best of luck and enjoy.

Thanks guys, model is 750sc......can’t remember the age but around 10 years old I think.Looking at the pics the front legs don’t seem to protrude hugely but I can see mounting bolts and electrics will unplug.
I’m confident driving vans using wing mirrors only and our motor home looks much more clumsy and is wide.....also quite heavy to drive & manoeuvre.......it'll be fine I think.Main bonus is that my wife will be able to drive this outfit and we should be able to hit those quiet spots up here in Scotland......can’t wait.

I bought a cheap pair of mirror extensions from eBay, does improve visibility noticeably for a few pounds. Not worth not buying them.
