I'm already on the coast, so no worries there. This is proving interesting reading. I'm taking a new Ranger for a long test drive next week and, given my experience on the new Transit where i got 34-35mpg on a mixed drive (which is what Ford lists for the Tranny), I think i may well get close to the 36mpg they list for the pick-up. The new facelift Ranger due at the end of the year is claimed at being 22% more efficient than the current one, so looks to be worth waiting for.

08 Ford Ranger Wildtrak 3000cc manual.
Not loaded 30mpg.
With Skarosser EC7 26mpg.
Try to keep below 2000rpm which gives me 60 to 65mph.

Amarok Highline auto, 2012. Checked the onboard readout with a brim to brim check and it seems pretty accurate - makes a change for VW as I had a Golf diesel that overread by 17%!
Unloaded around town: 30-32 mpg
Long run: 33 -35 mpg
Loaded with Tischer 230: 29-30 mpg (light right foot, non-motorway, brakes don't get much use)
Coming back from Italy at motorway speeds: 25 mpg

3.0 'old tech' i.e non common rail Chevrolet Diesel. I tend to drive by 'feel' - so when I feel the wind pressure takes too much right foot to overcome I knock it off there.
General running about around 33, with the camper, never measured, but on the 5000 mile Euro tour last year - except for honking along Italian expressways the consumption feels little changed. I'll guess 29.
Many new Euro 5+ motorhomes wouldn't do that so I'm not grumbling.

We also have a 2012 Amarok Highline Auto.
Just done the calculations from our run up to the social - brim to brim. Getting pretty much the same as Chris:
Unloaded : 31mpg consistently (driven mainly by a girl-racer)
Not used it on a long run unloaded as we use the company car for stuff like that.
Loaded with Apollo we have just achieved 28mpg going and 22mpg coming back (headwind all the way home), so average 25mpg. (Not driven by the girl racer).

Just got back from a 1040 mile trip, up to the social and then into the York moors and lakes.

Nomad (Ranger) demountable
Best was 30MPG demounted which is best Ive ever got so must like the Yorkshire air
Worst case mounted 17MPG from Leicester to North of Bristol, strong head wind and mix of AC on or Windows open.
Best case mounted 23MPG.
So not too bad I thought, main issue seems to be a small-ish tank so have to stop every 100 to 150 miles
Apart from that the old girl didn't miss a beat

It would certainly seem that the newer you go, there appears to be a huge improvement on mpg, but you have to offset that against your vehicle purchase cost. Keep 'em coming folks.

2006 Navara Outlaw King Cab. MPG is around 31+ fully loaded with mixed motorway and country roads. Worst consumption was 28mpg when slogging up to north Devon (lots of hills) fully loaded, water and all. Normal everyday motoring unloaded gives me 37+ , and a long run unloaded up to 40mpg.
Normal motorway speed is kept to 58mph (about 2000 revs) loaded or unloaded and I use the cruise control extensively. I also drive well within all other speed limits, I'm in no hurry and hate to waste fuel
