An interesting read for anyone interested in the application of science following a rampage through the museum

I might say, science and especially Physics are something of a fascination for me.

hence browsing the nerd forums (which I do purely for research purposes)

Interesting, and might help stay ahead of ISIS destructive tendencies?

I still think the best thing to make with 3D printers is 3D printers... How long would it take for them to fill the world?

Ah yes, the event-printer-horizon,

I suppose there's always the in the back of your mind your actually gazing at something recreated like a novelty world site somewhere in Las Vegas

The technical aspect alone in forming something from essentially tourist snapshot's though,
stunning

I was thinking that 3 d printing would be a good back up in space exploration, the ability to create simple parts in case of crisis as in Apollo 13.

Pleased to announce you're on the right track on this one Mark, scheme to construct 'moonbase alpha' from material sourced locally, see here

and with the phenomenal savings to be made in payload savings together with nanotube technology, deliver the hardware out beyond geo-stationary orbit onto a craft in space and transfer to moon
from Earths surface via space elevator
