how have you tackled actually hooking it on?

That still needs some thought. The front load hooks might be usable providing the straps are attached before loading the camper, so potentially similar to the L200, load hooks, through front leg supports, down between tub and cab to the chassis. The rear is going to be more tricky as the load hooks are too far in. The Amarok doesn't have a towbar fitted so it might need drilling through the bed to the chassis, although this would be a last case.
