I see 'Lifting Gear Supplies' in Anstey lane.
Do you have a good marina and chandlery business near you? I'm sure I used to use one in Leicester city center years ago. They may have stainless lifting eyes.

The shops that did that stuff have long ago closed in the city centre , the lifting supplies folks are the 'part-timers I went to

My concern with 12mm stainless is that they are un-rated , the rated 12mm are only a third of a tonne (but I think they work on a 5-1 breaking strain) or am I just being paranoid

Nobody yet has had a catastrophic failure of a bolt, just the bolts being pulled through the trucks steel itself!

not saying you should copy what this chap did although its VERY secure, but you have an option in pictures of what is possible should you wish.

do you have a tow bracket fitted?

Well between now and Saturday you can judge whether you want to copy his installation and drill that, and chassis behind cab
(assuming you can pass straps between tub and cab of course)
or go directly down through tub in each corner

under normal circumstances the latter has proved itself sufficient.

When we were looking around to buy we went to see this outfit actually, nice fella
somewhere in Derbyshire I think,
they ran it for years but in the end sold up, bought a RR and caravan

Having had a better look at my truck (i think the photos are of a nissan pickup, the front will work, we can put eye bolts into the chassis)

At the rear it will not work as the bumper is molded into the l200 so no place to get down directly between mounting point and tow bar so it has to go over the bodywork

If there's any point where a cargo strap can contact the panels it will rub the paint off (at best)
so possibly turnbuckles down onto bed floor at rear like mine,

On the chassis fitting at front you may want to think about instead welding on some long length (100mm) angle as bracket
(peaky's) and drilling those instead as you could then spread the energy over a wider area than drilling holes in the one point.
I mention this in insurance terms, they might not later approve someone drilling a pair of holes through side-to-side

something to consider but ultimately your choice naturally.



As a try out why not pass the tail of straps around the rail instead initially and see how easy to use that is, then make it more permanent when completely satisfied with arrangement,

got some large m12 washers (50mm x 50mm) as well
