Demountable camper group

WOW! Great project for someone - one of the original demountables from Walter King. Highly collectable if restored. Tempting!

Now i know nothing of the history of demountables but seeing this advert & reading Martin's reply & coincidentally reading an article on facebook that mention's

"and eventually bought a vintage 1978 GMC Kingsley."

I just wondered if Walter King & "Kingsley" are connected?

OR i'm just guessing?

Hopefully Martin &/or Zildjian will be able to shed some light on it?

Hi Mike, good guess but no cigar I'm afraid.
Geek alert! GMC, as far as I know, were the only US auto manufacturer to build their own line of motorhomes - various models but all streamlined A-class with a distinctive low profile. They produced the last models in 1978 so I reckon the Kingsley in the article is probably one of the last to come off the production line. Walter King's company did spread their wings and eventually started to build trailer caravans and motorhomes, as well as their demountables, but they shut up shop in 1987.
