Hi folks,
new Irish member heddle here. I am so happy to have found your group as I am completely new to demountables.
I have recently bought a ranger sleeping series demountable, It is mounted on a ford ranger pick up.
I would appreciate advice from others in Ireland or elsewhere as to how or who do they use for insurance? I have gone down the road of trying to get it registered as a camper but so far I have been unsuccessful. The camper is attached to the truck chassis so not so easy to take off . It is only used for leisure and camping. I would dearly love to take it further afield this summer but am reluctant until I find insurance that covers both vehicle and camper or a company that will insure the truck while it is carrying the camper.Maybe I am looking for the impossible. Any company I have approached have immediately been negative once demountable is mentioned.
Any suggestions or advice would be gratefully received.
Looking forward to any replies,
Happy camping,
Heddle.

Ireland would be a new one on me for insurance, we have an insurance thread running Here

I've had many phone calls with brokers and call centres who usually start off saying something
'demountable's, yes we insure those no problem, and how many wheels does it have ?'
so don't be surprised to hear that,
Personally I use Campton who I believe are brokers for insurers Marker study so start there and see if they offer cover for you

I recently asked my motorcycle insurance broker to use another underwriter, they had put me with Markerstudy without me knowing but after reading the small print in their policy and reading many other bad reviews, I didn't want to be covered by them this year.

To be honest, none of these insurance underwriters get 5 stars reviews but Markerstudy seem to be the worse.
