When you fit the replacement have a look at the the void area between the ceiling and outer roof, make sure this area is well supported with battens ! When you tighten the screws this area pulls and needs to be firm.
If at all possible slightly raise this area by a couple of millimeters this will cause a slightly raised slope on the roof aiding the water to flow away from the vent and also compensating for the weight of the vent. Do use a good sealant preferably a UV rated Sikaflex one.
