Custom Racks

I can't seem to find the post someone put up about "Bike Racks when towing a trailer" ? Just thought I would share Custom racks I made some 25years ago (since modified) and still functional. I use them to transport my Windsurfing boards and Kayaks but easily modified to carry bikes. They are lockable in a variety of positions .

We previously had a carrier hooked on roof luggage rack and that was from Thule, not cheap unfortunately but well put together

Interesting (although the video edit barely gives one a long enough look at things to see what's going on...)

I made a bike rack that slots onto the fittings for the Suntrekker's rear leg (which of course you don't use when travelling). Two bikes can hang vertically from their seat tubes, hooked over prongs on the rack. The vertical hang means they're not blocking the lights or number plate, but they are, of course, blocking the door. Until you hinge the bike-hangy bit away from the back of the Suntrekker out of the way, a bit like the hinged spare wheel carrier some 4x4s have at the back.

...all of which is a wordy way to describe something that would be far better illustrated with a photo. If anyone shows interest, I'll take one and post it when I'm next home.

Amanda, I'd love to see some photos if you could. We've been wanting to take our bikes on our trips however didn't want to throw them in the camper and they're too big for the rear area of the supercab.

Yes please,
Bike carriers are always popular (can't think why personally) but many of you seem keen to carry them,
I knew a guy carried them on front headboard of camper accessing them from truck's bonnet!

We are lucky enough to be able to fit both our bike's in the camper when on the move & just take them out on arrival & chain them up.

Won't suit those with newer units but a couple of dinks inside doesn't bother me, better than never taking them.
