Under-slung Gas tank Question?

I noticed this on a panel van conversion. I'm asking anyone who knows:

1. Is it a variation on a standard gas bottle?
2. How do you fill it?
3. Is it LPG/Butane/Propane?
4. Is this a common set-up?

This is the link to the van in question.

Mike.

I’ve been considering this exact thing. I have a quote from autogas 2000 who have looked under our camper and find it entirely feasible to fit a tank between the back of the truck and the waste tank. They would reinforce the tank mounts on to the wooden blocks that support the camper off the tub. Weight sits nice and low and gives a decent capacity.
It’s LPG, refillable from garages etc. Common on motorhomes.

Sort of sandwiched below the demountable but on top of the pick up bed (but attached to the camper) so you can still drive away and use the truck?

No. Further back than that. The tank is sausage shaped and about 20 cm in diameter. On our tischer there is an area of flat floor behind the pick up truck but in front of the waste tank that is big enough to accommodate the tank. Google Autogasleisure.co.uk and there is info there.

Thanks for that link. It all makes perfect sense now.

Do you think you will be the first Demountable with this 'underslung' LPG set up?

Maybe. We already have a refillable Gasflow system, but the bottle isn't really big enough for a winter holiday. Our camper has the bottle in a locker right at the back, so we were thinking that an underfloor tank could be bigger, move the weight further forward as well as lower and then free up the gas locker for general storage. The tank has to survive a certain G force in the event of an accident, and Autogas weren't sure if screwing the brackets up into the wooden floor would be sufficient, so they were going to fabricate brackets to take a crash force load forward onto the main camper mounting blocks. Would cost us about £700 all told.
I do think that the camper manufacturers or importers could think about including this from new. We would be throwing away a similar cost in Gasflow kit to switch over.

I'm sure someone would pay to have your Gasflow kit for their Demountable, at least you could then recoup some of the new cost?

I could be interested in buying your Gasflow kit.
