Tischer advice and opinions needed

For those of you that know us we recently sold the Apollo and are looking forward to getting our new Tischer from Golum in the next couple of weeks.

We have a couple of questions about things that are different...

What hose do you use to fill with water, a flat one that has to be fully reeled out to use or an expanding one?
Also as it has a grey water tank how do you empty onsite, is it worth carrying a waste tank or is it simple to empty?

Feeling a little green with different techniques

Hi

So glad you are getting a new Tischer, look forward to seeing pictures :) We use a collapsible bucket to empty the waste water, unless we are on a campsite with a motorhome dump wastewater point. We use a food grade hose to fill the water tank up from home, maximum of 30% full, and then top up using a flexible funnel and our 10 litre water container.

Trying to avoid using a funnel and collapsible water container due to the water tank being so big = lots of trips to the tap :?. That's what we did with the Apollo but then we only had a 25 litre water tank.

Plus one on everything Ashley & Kim say basically.

I've never carried a hose for filling any camper we've had, it's just something else to store and chances are, it will never be long enough for all campsites/situations.

Tischer - Nice.

We carry a hose coiled up. Not a flat one, just a regular one. Plus we have many different types of adapters so we can get water from pretty much any tap. We use it a lot to refill the tank when touring. Note that we never demount the camper when on the road so simply drive to the nearest water point to refill. We have a plastic jerry can type thing for emptying our grey tank into (and a folding trolley in case we need to move the jerry can any distance when full). We have found very few places (a few in Norway, one in Switzerland) where there was a dump station we could drive over and dump the tank directly.

Hi. Good choice.
We use a collapsible bucket for emptying unless we can find a proper drain.

For filling we use a flat hose with a collection of fittings for the tap end. For the camper end we have a cap with a built in hose connector. The only problem with the flat hose is that it needs unrolling fully and can kink unless you lay it all out. I'm sure I did see one once that you could still use if it was partially rolled up.

The only other issue which we don't like is that to drain the Tischer freshwater tank you have to pull out a bung inside the tank. If you only want to partially drain it you have got to use a clean hand. There should be a better system.
