I came across this topic on as VW forum . It's a list of sensible questions sent to various "experts" .

Its for this reason I never ask questions about gas on the internet,

few people are expert but all of a sudden everybody has a law degree which they're anxious to emphasise with.......
disclaimer some half-baked advice they've just googled disclaimer

There are a few mobile caravan/Motorhome mechanics gas people about nowadays though so for peace of mind i would probably just call up one of them
then you get a certificate etc always handy for selling on as well

I've had a look at that VWT4 forum post as I want to have our gas system checked. Tried the Gas Safe Register site - nobody in our area is either qualified and/or will respond to me.
Joined the T4 forum and can't get hold of the guy who claimed to be qualified to carry out these checks - his mail box is overflowing!
Anybody know of a mobile, qualified gas engineer who fancies a trip to west Wales? Or, failing that, one within easy reach we can go to?

Thanks, Chris

I use the guy , he does general caravan maintenance , but does gas work . He is based somewhere around Wolverhampton , I know he does travel or may know some one in your area .

Try Golum. He uses someone in your area.

Unfortunately the guy Golum uses is not Gas Safe Registered.
I finally found someone locally who could do the job - fully qualified and Gas Safe Registered - mind you it took a month!
We had a snag when it came to replacing the rubber hose pigtail as the connector was not a common thread. Could not source one anywhere. Eventually had to dismantle the old one and use the original connector on the new hose.
All sorted now - and I have a Gas Safety Certificate.
