Run out of gas....
Re: Run out of gas....
Confess I never really know when its full beyond the day I buy it!
the last bottle I took back in preparation for a season's camping the shop said they wouldn't take my money for exchanging a nearly full bottle for a new one....
There is a gauge on the regulator which (like my car) shows very full-not so full & EMPTY!) and I've been reading ways of monitoring the level and wondered if you lot had a failsafe plan

Re: Run out of gas....
The way I measure the contents of the gas cylinder is to listen out for when Sally complains the stove no longer lights, then swap for the space cylinder we carry, and task Sally with replacing the cylinder when we get home

I couldn't ask Her to maintain our system too, someone would notice the macaroon stock dropping too rapidly
Re: Run out of gas....
I have tried them , they are pretty useless .
Re: Run out of gas....
(Should) be relatively simple to calculate usage after all, 6Kg of gas and the weight of bottle, I did see someone with a specific gauge like a fishermans type thing once
think He said it was from Calor itself but not sure

Saw this in the latest edition of a monthly canal boat newspaper. I have no idea if it works though.

Re: Run out of gas....
Watched that video a couple of times now and besides the commentators boring voice I'm still not working out just what that is for.
Re: Run out of gas....
Boats, because the hull is likely to contain any leaking gas, have to have a leak detection system. Most often a bubble tester. I've got one on the boat but it doesn't really get looked at between Boat Safety examinations. Have an electronic gas leak alarm in the bilge.
The gas fuse is not currently compatible with the BSS so not much use in that respect.
I have got a gas gauge on the bottle in the boat, which works on pressure. Pretty useless. It has three different tracks depending on the temperature, and only works apparently when gas is flowing, so you have to nip outside and into the gas locker once you've put the cooker on. I've never managed to predict the bottle running out with it. The only advantage that it does have is that you don't need a spanner to change the bottle.
