I suppose I'm thinking of people hoisting themselves over the lip of that plinth and what effect that would have on a few screws really,
obviously overnight they are only bearing the weight of the shelf/cushions & feet,
also it wouldn't be easy to lift it up and down, grab seating cushions (all from on bed)
or am I looking at this wrong I dunno'?
Modification to Skarosser8l Pt 1; the longsleeper
Re: Modification to Skarosser8l Pt 1; the longsleeper
You don't want to be flapping it up and down in the middle of the night to nip out for a wee. So it's either got to take your full weight, or have a gap for climbing up.
Re: Modification to Skarosser8l Pt 1; the longsleeper
Yes thats pretty much how I see it too,
in preference I'd go with a gap personally, the cushion/block that Poppi has recovered for us fits neatly on top of a normal seat cushion during the day BTW
good because as the true seating enthusiast we know you are Rich, an extra layer of padding is quite nice until bedtime

Rich i've taken one of the purpose made 'feet cushions' and then one seat back (as you mentioned)
and they fill the whole space great,

what I think I'll do now is create another simple fold up tray/cage thing for seat back and use those two together see how that works, will mean leaving the smaller one to put in place at bed-time but I can live with that
you wouldn't get two seat backs end to end though too long surely!
