I wish,
no I looked long and hard for a bargain settling on one someone had ordered for a job, unboxed and mislaid the bits then job was cancelled,
the saving was just about worth it given I had to source appropriate fittings to match thickness of camper roof

there are other makers of roof lights but heck are one of the most popular particularly if like me you are a bit ham fisted with tricky blind mechanism :o they do spare parts too

I used a double sided tape to bed it down to roof with, followed by bead of Silka round outside,
I'am going to replace a 280mm x 280mm washroom sky vent with a new item.

Is there a specific type of Sikaflex that i shouls use?

Mike.

Can I offer another alternative? ;)

I found the Sikaflex 512 really good for sticking and sealing but, if at a later date the item needs removing. You have a problem separating them again.
On "Lightning" the roof vent was fitted with a roll of mastic.

It comes on a roll, a bit like double sided tape, but is, and remains, pliable. It has the consistency of a sticky putty so will squeeze into place when compressed. That was fine for my vent as when the screws were tightened I got a perfect seal. Also, 5 years later I was able to slide a pallet knife into the joint and remove the vent to put into the new build :)

I got mine from White Arches caravans in Rushden. This is the original box as the roll is 5 meters long and costs £9.64 back then, and I will be using it on the new build (no shelf life constraints)

Before starting project be sure and have some wipes to hand to clear up any smears of mastic left in work area, stuff seems to go everywhere and needs wiping up almost immediately, that said it is on the roof after all so only truck drivers looking down on it will ever know how messy a worker you might be :)

Thanks Zildjian & Mark

A practical Mate, who will be supervising my sky vent install, has used this sealant, similar price to Sikaflex 512 & reckons it's better, thoughts?

"NON DRYING BEDDING SEALANT

USED BY THE EXPERTS OF CARAVAN MANUFACTURE

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT IF REPLACING OR RESEALING A SKYLIGHT"

I can get the W4 Mastic Sealing Strip, again, about the same price but have discounted using it as i hope never to have to remove the new sky vent or is this short sighted? And is it easier to work with?

Apart from the basic MPK pop up vents, most makes if you shop about, at 280mm x 280mm seem to be about £50 - £60 for a new item inc P+P.

I'm just going to go for a vent, a tube of something and fit it. It's got to better than a bin liner held down with Poundshop Gaffer tape!
