Hello and welcome, also consider air bags on the rear suspension and or may be both a suspension upgrade. I replaced the rear shock on mine this year and made a huge difference when loaded. Tailgate definitely off, in the ford ranger easy to do, 4 bolts only. Others may have to unplug some wires. Ha...

Sounds and looks lile a great trip. On a note you mentioned you have fitted an diesel fired heater, how have you made the connection from the tank on the LR to the camper, as I assume it must be someway removable when you want to demount

With the top crank handle wouldn't that hit the bodywork? Perhaps you could use a socket set flexible joint as an adapter?

So 1768 miles round Scotland average MPG was 26.8. Best was 30.22.worst was 23.45. All with camper on back. Not too bad I thought

Well happijack got back on e mail within an hour and said It appears that the acme nut is no longer working with the drive screw. Over time, they sometimes get small particles of corrosion or something that gets embedded with the grease, and it eventually grinds away the threads on the nut. That mec...

The inner leg isn't moving the motor turns etc and I can pull the leg in and out so something in the drive, threadded part has bust I think, just emailed happijack for advice and will call niche I the morning session if they have one to sell. Could pop in on our way back from Scotland maybe

Happijack broke !
Annoying as the jack broke just as we were loading to go to Scotland for a two week trip, tried to get appart but it's beaten me and I don't have time to do much with it this evening, so probably looking at a new one. Doh.
