Re: Suntrekker with Wetroom
Foam underneath to lift the camper body up a bit - wherever did you get that idea? Having lifted it, how are you securing the camper to the truck? My experience has been that you shouldn’t need any lift on that version of the Hilux. I had one, and, when stood still, everything fitted just fine. But ...

Re: Suntrekker for Sale
Mine has a pull-out bed, and in the 25 years I’ve had the camper, it’s been used exactly twice. Here’s why. When travelling, you’ll normally have luggage - bags with your clothes in, outdoor coats, rucksacks, walking sticks, kites, model aircraft, whatever it is you do when you’re travelling. In a S...

Re: Fitting a Suntrekker to a Mk 8 Hilux
I remember seeing a Hilux with a Suntrekker shell on it near Peterborough; it must have been about 1993 or 94. It had a roller shutter door at the back, so presumably fitted out for freight. I didn't get a chance to see where its legs hooked on.

Re: Interesting video's
I thought I might make a little series of videos about my filming trip and my van, of which that one is the second. I'm here travelling in my van and I've got a selection of film kit with me, and some free time, so why not? I'm up to number four now, with the second two being Van Tour instalments. T...

Does this count? (It’s got a drone shot of my camper in it!)

Re: travelling with dog in the camper
I've had my Suntrekker for over twenty years, and used it a lot, with three different dogs now. None of them have ever complained. Even on quite warm days, the Suntrekker tends to stay relatively cool inside- the shiny white body reflects most of the solar radiation, and with two large skylights, th...

Re: travelling with dog in the camper
I don’t have a partner, so Mr Bailey rides in the passenger seat. On those occasions when I do have a passenger, he rides in the back - reluctantly. But he’s fine back there. There’s plenty of comfy seating to sprawl on, he can see out easily... he probably puts the radio on when he thinks no-one’s ...

Re: Fitting a Suntrekker to a Mk 8 Hilux
No, there’s no sign of any give in the Jablite, and the Suntrekker’s been in there standing on it virtually all the time since I wrote the original post. It’s the grey kind, which seems to be a bit denser than the white. In fact, in the old Mk 7 truck, there was a bit of noticeable donkey-nodding. N...

It’s time to replace all the window seals on mine - they’re perishing, making grey streaks beneath all the windows, and leaking. The mention of Seals Direct is very useful - does anyone happen to know which of the many seals available fits the Suntrekker? While I’m here, one of my side windows has a...

Re: Replacement Suntrekker Skylight
I had the same emergency a few years ago - one skylight ‘lid’ blew off as I was driving down to Gatwick to fly to South Africa. The plan was to use the van as accommodation the night before flying. I spent half the night sealing up the hole with plastic bags and duct tape so the van wouldn’t be awas...
