Re: how doo

Ahhh - thats what I had to replace on my Apollo due to a leak round the front seam and through the maker lights. Like you appear to be doing, I undertook all the reconstruction from inside the unit without having to disturb the outer skin. Dampness and condensation led me to investigate and I was as...

Re: ... and now for something completely different!

Hi Tom

My Defender 130 with Northstar demountable was one of the show vehicles at last years show. Really enjoyed the event and hope to be back again this year. Love your Rangie but my wife likes the additional creature comforts that the demountable offers too much!

Re: how doo

Welcome to the group.

Awesome professional looking restoration - ~I'm well impressed! It makes the work I undertook on my old Apollo look rather pathetic!

Good luck with the rest of the work.

Re: Trolley Jacks

I just carry a small 2 tonne hydraulic jack on my Defender. Never had a flat but if I did I'd use the electric jacks on the back of my rig to do most of the work.

Re: oh no its happened again!!

The Defender doors rust partly due to the shape of the steel section which traps dirt and that blocks up the drainage holes. The dirt therefore remains damp and this exacerbates the problem. The chassis on the Defender is a massive box section - actually two C sections welded together with a lap joi...

Re: Who knows about drones/quadcopters?

It may be a bit off topic but one of my neighbours who lives about a mile from my house flys a full sized unlicenced/unregistered helicopter out of his garden!! Apparently it cant be registered as it doesn't conform to CAA regulations. How he got it into the country in the first place I'm not sure b...

Re: oh no its happened again!!

Umm - surprising amount of rot! Looks as if it must have been a real mud trap. That's one of the benefits of the Land Rover. The body is built of Birmabrite alloy and its never going to rust as such, however, there can be some issues with galvanic corrosion where the alloy is mounted to the steel ch...

Re: Members Campers

The L shape is also the standard set up for the Land Rover fitment Northstars as the loadbed on the Defender is about 6 inches longer than the standard double cab and more akin to the king cab which is 9 inches longer. My wife preferred the conventional layout and thats how we ended up with a "speci...

Re: Members Campers

Nick Drilling out the rivets so that the rear lamp corners can be removed makes the bed-length almost perfect for the "standard" demountable and mine sits up hard against the front of the tub. I always remove the front legs when I'm using the camper off-road as they do tend to snag on things. When I...
