So, my job being fairly system based today (and that system failing splendidly nearly all) day meant when it did restart it wasn't much good to me as i'd eaten all my sandwiches/cakes and packed up to go home anyway,

Don't *think* you'll need to make an overly large hole in the bed, the tubs' don't move around much or they'd be rubbing back of cab, you aren't trying to use a Navara to do a Hiluxs' job after all would still prefer an angled bracket of side of chassis rail myself as there's more area to dissipate ...
