Orkney Islands
I'm thinking of ticking another item off my bucket list by going over to the Orkney Isles in May. We will be travelling up from the Midlands and, beyond having the first and last nights at the excellent C&CC site site just over the border in Moffat, we have a blank sheet of paper. Has anyone got any...

Re: 2017 Meetup; 23rd & 25th June
Bugger, just seen the dates. 24th is her ladyship's birthday. I'm going to have to work extremely hard to convince her that she doesn't want to spend the day with her mother and daughters and that going away is a far better idea.

Re: 2017 Meetup
We would love to come as long as it doesn't clash with my sailing club commitments.
It would be helpful if we knew the date fairly soon before the sailing club dates are set in tablets of stone.

Re: Is a demountable the right choice for me?
Hi Rob, I've got Northstar 700DL which sits nicely on my double cab UK 2007 Ford Ranger. I've added air bags since the picture was taken and it now sits perfectly on the truck (not that it was that bad before). I tend to keep the speed down to about 60 mph on the motorway to save fuel but I have fou...

Re: Newbie saying Hello from the Isle of Wight
Hi, I'm fairly new to this myself - we celebrated the first birthday of getting our Northstar a week ago. You have come to the right place for help and advice as I've asked quite a few (possibly stupid) questions and everybody on here has been helpful and willing to give advice & share their experie...

Re: Is a demountable the right choice for me?
When my VW T25 pop top went to the big camp site in the sky, I decided to go for a demountable. We've had ours for 12 months and I wish I had known about them years ago. The advantages for me are 1. You only need one vehicle as the camper unit can be left at home when not in use 2. You can upgrade t...

Re: Clamp on towing mirrors.
I have used these cheap(ish) towsure rock steady mirrors since buying my camper nearly 12 months ago. They have done about 250 miles on a Navara and about 5,000 on my ranger with no problems at all. They have even survived encounters with a white van man and a blind bus driver. http://www.towsure.co...

LED Bulbs
I know that LED lighting has been touched on here a few times but I'm not sure how much technology has moved on in the last few years so I thought that I would bring it up again. I've upgraded all my bulbs to BA15 21W LED's which are fine for everything but reading. I've tried both the cool white an...

Trackers
As both pickup & camper insurance time is fast approaching I started thinking about fitting some sort of tracker device to the vehicle and possibly adding a second one to the camper. The idea of fitting one to the vehicle is reduce my premium and fitting one to the camper is a bit belt and braces ju...

Rear Awning
I'm thinking of getting a rear awning for my Northstar which is mounted on a Ford Ranger. I want something which will fit when the camper is either on or off the pickup. I don't want acres of space or additional rooms. It would be mainly for additional storage and somewhere for damp dogs to sit in b...
