Re: No question too stupid

Another stupid question. My pick up towbar has black & grey sockets which match the black and grey plugs on the demountable. I want to tow my boat up to Abersoch next weekend and need a lighting board on the back of the boat. Ideally, i would like a splitter so that I can run the black socket to bot...

Re: Camping Caravan & Motorhome Show. NEC

Thanks for the comments. From the replies it looks like I'm going to be using wooden boards. I think I'll go for 25mm marine ply and give it the same treatment as my boat bits - a few coats of epoxy and then marine varnish - to make it last longer and be easier to clean. I assume that by walk, peop...

Camping Caravan & Motorhome Show. NEC

I'm off the the camper show at the NEC on Friday 26th. Does anyone know if there are any demountable suppliers or accessory sellers tending the show? Failing that, who are the best suppliers for general camping bits and bobs. I'm worried that the feet on my Northstar look at bit small and might sink...

Re: Using the Channel Tunnel

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to respond, I've certainly got a lot of food for thought and some really useful links to follow up. I've also ordered a copy of the Aires book (£2.80 inc p&p from Abebooks for the 2013 edition). I'm really hoping this minor adventure goes to plan as my wi...

Using the Channel Tunnel

We had booked a cottage in Normandy for a week (Saturday to Saturday) in July and now that we have got our Northstar 700DL we are intending to travel over on the Channel Tunnel on the Wednesday and have a few stop overs on the way down. We are planning on doing the same on the way back and will prob...

Re: Members Campers

Sorry for the delay, I didn't spot your post (is there some way of being notified when somebody comments on a post you've made?) The bowl didn't take that long ( a couple of hours or so) to make and my wife did the skillful bit (the engraving) under supervision). There is a slideshow on Youtube show...

Northstar serial/registration number

As the new proud owner of a second hand Northstar 700DL I telephoned the Caravan and Camping Club to insure it. After explaining that I couldn't fit wheel locks because it doesn't have wheels, a hitch lock because there is no hitch, agreeing to have it listed as a single axle demountable (their syst...

Re: Members Campers

Thanks again for all the welcomes & comments and thanks for the picture of the demountable towing a boat. Did you have to add something to your trailer to increase the distance between the back of the camper & the boat? I was looking at it a couple of days ago and I'm worried that my dinghy will be ...

Re: Members Campers

Thanks to everyone for the welcome. For those who are interested, this is my usual boat (there are others but the less said about that when Black Countrywoman is about the better). It's a bog standard Mirror Dinghy which, according to the class association, is over 40 years old. I've had it for abou...
