The richest rewards will be found at the end of the path least travelled :)

Re: Battery monitors

I'm looking to replace my cheap Chinese volt / ammeter with a proper battery monitor that can integrate charge / dishcharge current in order to estimate Ah used / available. Current thinking is Victron BMV-700 (about £130) - manual looks comprehensive, very sophisticated bit of kit Or NASA-Marine B...

Re: European Breakdown Cover

How much is the ADAC and what country(ies) does it cover and, more importantly, will they provide cover to a non EU country? ;) Cost is around €110 for PLUS membership for you and your spouse (it's not the vehicle, its the member that's covered) and it covers you anywhere in Europe and I'm pretty s...

Re: Off grid charging of macbook pro?

Anyone here know the best way to keep a macbook charged whilst off grid? Apple used to do an airplane charger, which didn't charge your mac, but just gave it power so you didn't drain your battery. That's since been discontinued and it looks like a plug in inverter may do the job instead. Does anyo...

Re: HI - Looking for advise

Hi, Also would there be any condensation issues with the top up version? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Steve & Jenny . Hello again Condensation is often misunderstood. When you breathe you breathe moisture into the air. When that moist air comes into contact with a cold surface it will cond...

Re: HI - Looking for advise

Hi, We recently rejected the idea of a motor home and have decided to look for a demountable probably on a Hilux Extra cab for next year. The truck will need to tow a trailer plus car (total wt. 1 ton) with the camper mounted, to reduce the total length of the set up we are thinking of a camper tha...

Re: What are you up to?

Sitting reminiscing with Clare and contemplating how things have changed. Fifteen years ago this month, having just spent the winter in Greece, we shared the ferry from Patras back up to Ancona with five other campers/motorhomes from Germany. They'd been part of a larger group following some of the...

Re: GAC Pickups

but 500kgs payload! :o What use is that? Not enough for the carcass of a well-fed sanglier let alone a demountable camper! It'll be interesting to see if they start appearing on the roads round here where, until now, Nissan and Toyota have been the paysanne's chariot of choice. French site Internat...

Re: Insurance (who sells it)

Stupid thing about using a hiab on a truck is it inevitably crushes the roof at top of wall anyway as the weight of camper is more than enough to pull the straps or chains diagonally inwards up to the hook so its bound to leak even if its tarted up for sale might well be another (unfortunate) first...
