Re: SKarosser Copy Scratch Home build?????

The camper is now demounted, probably until next Easter. Hopefully, this will allow me to complete the Chinese diesel heater installation along with a power supply rewire and diesel supply tank. Fit permanent aluminium box packers for under the camper and rubber buffers to the front between the camp...

Re: SKarosser Copy Scratch Home build?????

I think if the tub on the wildtrack was not so high I could get away with the tonneau in place by lifting it vertically over the cab rear window then in effect folding back down again. Instead of a many-layered roll there would be just two or three layers. (No thicker than the end of the tub) I am s...

Re: SKarosser Copy Scratch Home build?????

Back from the second weekend trip to Santapod. I have decided the Eagle tonneau needs to be removed before fitting the camper. The extra 25mm thickness of the frame just means I need more height to get it in and out. Particularly with the uneven ground, I am preparing for block pavers. https://i.ibb...

Re: SKarosser Copy Scratch Home build?????

The front turn buckles are a bit awkward to tighten up particularly when one has a LH threaded eye end and the other a RH threaded eye so I have to put them on differently to be able to do the lock nut up.

Re: biv box

I am a belt and braces man myself too. Although my build is mainly all aluminium I did use steel self-tapping screws on things like checker plate cladding. The screws really just held the plate in place while the sikaflex went off. After 4 years it is noticeable that some of the heads are going rust...

Re: SKarosser Copy Scratch Home build?????

Seemed like a good idea  I put a bracket with an eye bolt sticking out the side for easy access. It would have been ok if I dropped the camper in the tub but it wouldn't fit through the tailgate. The access hole is still good though  . After modifying the bracket we are ready for a...

Re: SKarosser Copy Scratch Home build?????

Thanks, Martin, I might need rubber buffers as I have a 50mm thick piece of wood both under and at the front end. The tub height is just too much higher on the Wildtrack compared to the Thunder. I was going to put some 50mm square "Ali" box rails for the camper to sit on but I only had 3mm thick sec...

Re: SKarosser Copy Scratch Home build?????

I haven't tried that yet.
I will try rolling it up and hope for the 50mm packer that I need for my camper to standoff will be enough.
I will let you know after further trials
