Re: Insurance & where to get it

I insure mine seperately. The camper is insured with the Camping and Caravan Club but some people have said recently that they won't quote on demountables. It will be interesting to see what happens when the renewal comes up in a few months time.

Re: Off Pickup Use

It all depends upon our length of stay and what we plan on doing as to whether we demount the camper. If we're doing a tour and will not be staying for more than one or two nights in the same place we leave the camper on the pickup. If we're staying for any longer we demount the camper and lower it ...

Re: Fitting a mini Heki

Give this chap a ring.

He sorted me out when we lost a window on our NorthStar and wasn't to pricey.

He also breaks vans and motorhomes for spares so you might get really lucky and find he has a used vent in stock which fits

Fixing Camper to truck and expected loads

I'll be taking delivery of my new Isuzu D-Max in the next week or so and it has set me thinking as to how My Northstar can be secured to the truck. The rear isn't a problem. I've got a hefty square sectionsteel tube which bolts between the tow bar and tow ball and I slide in equally hefty tubes with...

Thank you to everyone who has replied either on here or facebook. I've contacted Isuzu to ask for a test drive. I'll let you know what happens.

Having decided that the demountable lifestyle is definitely for us, I am thinking about getting a replacement for our 2.5L 2007 Ford Ranger which was purchased as a (relatively) inexpensive short term vehicle to see how things would pan out. I quite like the Ranger but it seems a little under powere...

Re: Orkney Islands

Thanks for all this, especially the warning about the tunnels. I had a panic attack when I was in an MRI scanner but the tube was about 2 inches from my nose and the lead mat used to cover my crown jewels was pushing down on me adding to the sense of being squashed. A 4ft tunnel out to be OK as long...

Re: Lincolnshire seller

There must be a niche in the market for sellers of demountables.

Portable Electric Winches

I sometmes have to recover boats & their launching trollies out of the lake up about a 1 in 6 launch ramp. Smaller boats are easy, especially when there are other people to help but the safety boat with engine or some of he bigger dinghies like a 15 ft wayfarer are a different matter, particularly i...

Having had the demountable for just over 12 months I've started thinking about servicing and maintenance before the new season starts. I should probably have thought about at the end of last year but, why do something today when you can put it off until tomorrow? I'll book a habitation check for bef...
